NHRA points following the 2015 Circle K NHRA Winternationals

Matt Hagan is picking up where he left off in the NHRA Funny Car standings, as the 2014 champ leads the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series points standings after the season’s first event, the Circle K NHRA Winternationals, held this past weekend at Auto Club Raceway at Pomona in California.

Shawn Langdon (Top Fuel) and Jason Line (Pro Stock) lead their respective categories following the event, the first of 24 on the 2015 schedule.

Funny Car

1. Matt Hagan (107)

2. Ron Capps (94)

3. Del Worsham (74)

4. Robert Hight (73)

5. Courtney Force (61)

6. Tommy Johnson Jr. (60)

7. John Hale (51)

8. Bob Bode (46)

9. John Force (40)

10. Cruz Pedregon (38)

Hight was the only John Force Racing Chevrolet Camaro to reach the semifinals, but a malfunction gave Capps the win light.

“We had some kind of malfunction in that semi-final race,” said Hight. “It was something we haven’t seen before. We will figure it out and be ready for Phoenix with this Auto Club Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car. It was good to get a couple round wins and we are leaving here third in the points. Last season we lost in the second round and then went to six straight finals. We had a great test session in Phoenix so we are ready to get back there.”

Top Fuel

1. Shawn Langdon (124)

2. Antron Brown (92)

10. Brittany Force (33)

Langdon went in to Sunday’s eliminations with the opportunity to reset both ends of the national record, needing to run a 3.737 or better to back up his 3.700-second run on Saturday, but was unable to do so.

Pro Stock

1. Jason Line (123)

2. Drew Skillman (97)

3. Erica Enders-Stevens (81)

10. Vincent Nobile (34)

Enders-Stevens, 2014 Pro Stock champ, was named to the 2014 American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association All-America Team on Monday. The first woman to win a Pro Stock title is joined on the team by drivers including Will Power (IndyCar), Matt Crafton (Camping World Truck Series), Donny Schatz (World of Outlaws Sprint Cars) and Kevin Harvick (Sprint Cup Series).
