Out of all the plush dogs there are to choose from, none are quite as beautiful as the stuffed Siberian Husky. With their unique coloring and stunning eyes, a stuffed Siberian Husky makes a lovely addition to any soft toy collection.
For centuries, the Chukchi people of Siberia, used Siberian Huskies for herding reindeer and pulling sleds; with their amazing stamina and ability to resist even the most unimaginable temperatures, they were the ideal working breed of dog. Originally brought by fur traders to North America in the 1900’s, Siberian Huskies were used for sled racing, easily beating out all other dog breeds involved in the sport. The Siberian today is still the preferred dog for Arctic races over Malamutes simply because they are so fast.
A diphtheria epidemic broke out in 1925 in Nome, Alaska, and many dog teams in which Siberian Huskies were the sled-pulling dog of choice, were responsible for getting medicine to the city. The event itself focused national attention on the breed thus popularizing the Siberian Husky for the first time. The dogs were even used in Antarctic expeditions made by Admiral Byrd a naval officer who specialized in various feats of exploration.
Like all breeds that have their distinct looks and personalities, Siberian Huskies are an easy one to spot. They have signature blue or brown eyes (or sometimes one of each color) along with a thick double fur coat that can be anywhere from shades of grey and silver to black and white. Their coats are especially critical for them (especially when living in extremely cold climates) as it protects them from temperatures as low as -76 Fahrenheit. – which amazingly, they can withstand. Not surprisingly, this is one breed that prefers the cold and likes to be outdoors. They need a great deal of exercise, though they should not ever be let off of a leash as the call of the wild easily conquers all for them and off they will go to roam. This is also a breed that can become easily bored and as is the case, its been known to get quite destructive if left alone for any length of time the stuffing in the sofa may not be intact when you return home.
Siberian Huskies are puppies at heart wilful and mischievous. But, they are also loving, sociable and smart. Because of its roaming habits, sometimes it is simply easier to have a stuffed Siberian Husky pup, rather than deal with the real thing; constantly chasing after a dog to try and get it to return home when that’s not what it really wants, can be both difficult to accept and execute each time it happens. If there is a way out of the house and/or backyard, a Siberian Husky will find it, all so they can head out for a new adventure. While a stuffed Siberian Husky is never quite like the real thing, it’s as close as you can get without having to worry if you will still have a dog when you get home.
